The Santa Cruz Educational Complex comprising
of the Santa Cruz Higher Secondary, High School and Primary and Pre-Primary school recently celebrated their Annual Day Function with great enthusiasm and zeal. The entire school complex participated wholeheartedly towards the success of this grand event.
Rev. Fr. Zeferino D’Souza, President of the Diocesan Society of Education, was the Chief Guest for the event. In his speech, he said that the annual function is an opportunity for the students and the teachers to showcasetheir talents and skills and convey amessage through their acting on the stage. Who knows, many of them may shine inthe world of tomorrow. The future will reveal in its own time, he said.
He also quoted Albert Einstein who once said: “Everybody is a genius. Butif you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its wholelife believing that it is stupid” All the students cannot be judged by the samemeasure but the teachers and others involved in the education should discoverthe talents of each student and provide opportunities and platform to displaytheir abilities. It was heartening to see that we had our students with special needs performing on the stage and doing wonderfully. This was to beappreciated.
Fr. Zeferino Appreciated and congratulated the Manager, the Principal, theHeadmaster, the Assistant Headmistress, the Staff members, teaching and non-teaching, the Parents, students, well-wishers and benefactors of the school.
The event started off with a Prayer Service. The Panel of other Dignitaries besides the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Zeferino D’Souza, consisted of the Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church and Manager of the school, Rev. Fr. Alexandre Pereira, Principal, Dennis D’Sa, Headmaster. Russell Coutinho, Asst. Headmistress, Cynthia, Ida Concesao teacher in charge of the primary school and the Chairpersons of the three schools of the complex, all who performed the Lamp Lighting Ceremony.
The theme for the Annual Day was ‘Through Education, let us bear witness to Christ in upliftment of the Poor’which was presented meticulously through a Logo depicting the same.
School’s Annual Report was presented by the Principal –Dennis D’Sa for the Higher Secondary, and the Headmaster Russell Coutinho for the High and Primary level.. Cynthia Fernandes introduced the Chief Guest and Mrs. Ida Concesao proposed the vote of thanks.
The Cultural program that followed the prize distribution function showcased origin of Music and Types of Dances – Indian, Goan and Western. The audience were enthralled by the performance of the students.
