People planning to spend their vacation on Goa’s exotic beaches can now reach their favourite destination in less than two hours. Private airline Indigo has announced the launch of a direct flight from Indore to Goa from April 16.
The flight would depart from Indore airport at 10.50 am and reach Goa at 12.35 am. The return flight would depart at 1.05 pm from Goa and reach Indore at 2.50 pm. Fare of flights range from Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,500. The first flight’s fare from Indore to Goa is around Rs 5,500 on April 16. The return flight is relatively cheaper and costs around Rs 3,500. Bookings for the flights have already begun. There had been a lot of demand for a direct flight to Goa. While many people prefer to visit Goa, Indore did not have proper rail and air connectivity to the destination. Only a weekly train runs from Indore that takes more than 24 hours to reach Goa. “We had planned a trip this summer, but there was no proper connectivity. While connecting flights were costlier, we got train tickets from Bhopal. We would now prefer to take a flight. It is not costly and it would also help us save time,” said Manisha Mittal, a local resident. While Indigo did not answer the queries related to the demand, tour operators of Indore were of the opinion that the demand was negligible as of now. “I have not received any query yet, may be because people are still not aware about it. Once they come to know of it, the demand would escalate,” said Anuj Goswami, a tour operator.
