India’s biggest and Asia’s oldest film festival , the International Film Festival of India gets into its 48th year and superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be opening the festival this year.
The superstar will be making the official welcome address to all the delegates from across the globe as IFFI 2017 flags off in the beach state of Goa. This year’s festival is scheduled to take place between the 20th to 28th of November, 2017
Speaking about IFFI, Shah Rukh Khan states, “It’s an exciting time for world cinema and especially Indian cinema. It’s wonderful that our country has opened its doors, with the International Film Festival of India, providing a platform to showcase some of the finest films from across the globe.”
About inaugurating the festival, SRK adds “As IFFI gets into its 48th year, I look forward to inaugurating the festival and celebrating what I regard in many ways as the future of cinema. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to all the delegates to India, with open arms, as only we Indians can,”.
This is definitely not the first time King Khan has inaugurated IFFI. Back in 2007, the actor had inaugurated the 38th edition of IFFI in Panjim. Earlier in IFFI 2011, when the opening ceremony of this festival was held in Margao city for the only time, Shah Rukh Khan had also inaugurated the 41st edition of IFFI.
This year, with the presence of Shah Rukh Khan along with a whole lot of esteemed dignitaries, IFFI 2017 is looking forward to a more magnificent start than ever.
The opening ceremony on 20th November will also include a cultural programme based on the Indian film industry. It will be followed by screening of ‘Beyond the Clouds’, a film directed by the Iranian filmmaker, Majid Majidi, at Kala Academy.
