Jet Skiing
The Jet Skis in Goa are sure to set one pulsating as the equipment has a power of 100-135 horsepower. They are capable of reaching very high speeds and thus one is advised to go along with an instructor if trying it for the first time.
Jet skiing requires a jet powered water scooter which is accelerated by a powerful engine. It is simple to operate however for a while the high speed may be a bit difficult to control. Once it is mastered, one can have a great experience skiing around.
Jet Skiing can be enjoyed at many beaches in Goa such as Aguada Beach, Colva Beach, Candolim Beach, Calangute Beach, Miramar Beach, Benaulim Beach etc. A nominal rate is charged and one is requested not to ignore the advice given by instructors.
Where: Colva Beach, Candolim Beach, Calangute Beach, Miramar Beach and Benaulim Beach.
Best Time for Jet Skiing: October to April.
Parasailing
Parasailing involves attaching a rope of about 350 feet long to the speedboat at one end and the parasail harness at the other end. As the speedboat speeds off into the ocean, the Para sailor is hauled up in the air. The sailor has no control over the parachute as he is firmly attached to the rope. However the vision of the clear blue-sky and the stunningly beautiful water below is mesmerizing.
Parasailing is best enjoyed right after the monsoons as the skies are cloudless and blue and the waters are placid and safe. The sport can be enjoyed at various beaches in Goa such as the Anjuna beach, Calangute beach, Baga beach, Candolim beach, Majorda beach, Dona Paula beach, etc.
Parasailing in Goa is organized by Government and non-governments organizations at a nominal rate for tourists. Many try it out on their vacation to Goa as one can also soak up the beauty of the coastline of Goa. It is indeed a unique experience that is sure to set adrenalin rushing through one’s body that will not be forgotten for a long time!
Where: Candolim Beach, Majorda Beach, Anjuna Beach and Baga Beach.
Best Time for Jet Skiing: October to April.
Wind Surfing
In Windsurfing, a windsurf board is used that is usually two to four meters long. It is powered by the effect of the wind on a sail that ranges from less than 3.0m2 to more than 12m2 depending on the skill of the sailor, the conditions, and the type of windsurfing being undertaken. The rig is connected to the board by a free-rotating universal joint and comprises a mast, wishbone boom and sail.
In Goa, the wind surfing beginners enjoy the early morning hours when the sea is calm and the breeze is soothing. The experts prefer the strong winds in the afternoons as the more the strength of the wind, more comes the excitement of the sport.
Windsurfing in Goa can be enjoyed from May to October. The Dona Paula bay is known to be the ideal destination for every beginner according to Windsurfing trainers and experts. However a number of beaches in Goa such as the beaches of Bogmalo, Miramar, Calangute, Arossim, Uttorda, Benaulim, Vagator, Baga etc also attract visitors to carry out the adventure of windsurfing.
Goa organizes a Windsurfing Regatta annually that is a much awaited event for adventure-seekers visiting Goa from all across the world. The surface water sport also receives a lot of popularity during the annual National Windsurfing Championship, organized by the Board Sailing Association of India.
